Dinosaurs still stalk the Earth... by illmatar Dinosaurs still stalk the Earth... by illmatar
And hopefully take a few tourists out as they go.

Heh.  Actually Gators are fairly placid.  You have to *really* be asking for it before one's going to bother you.  Alas, every year a few people do.  I am not sorry for the idiots.  I am sorry because the critter with the supposedly bigger brain does every possible stupid thing it can do, gets hurt, and they kill the alligator for being a menace.

Seems to me people with no common sense are more of a menace.  Case in point, there are now Nile Crocodiles living in Florida because stupid people think having a humongous, highly aggressive predator for a pet is an awesome idea.  If those get around maybe they will weed out a few more idiots from out gene pool.  Crocodiles are NOT placid.  Maybe they'll eat a few of the Burmese pythons too while they're at it.

EDIT:  Loving an Australian MP today...a woman got eaten by a salt water croc.  Of course she was in the water, after dark, in an area that is clearly marked with signs that tell people there are crocs.   The member of parliament who oversees the area, Warren Entsch, had the balls to do what no one over here ever does.  He called the idiot who got eaten an idiot.  They haven't found her body yet and they probably won't, but on the bright side she'll be up for the Darwin awards.

Actually the crocodiliens date back before the dinasaures and outlived them as well.
Looks like they got some more bad press in Orlando last week...
Nice shot by the way.

I know, but what else could you describe them as?

Idiots got press last week...but they are blaming the animal.  I suppose tourists from Nebraska might get a small amount of slack for not knowing any better, but even locals blame the gators when they eat the Yorkies people were letting play in the water...in a river...next to the sign that says beware of Alligators.

Like an alligator is supposed to know the small mammal with the leash is off limits.

Then they kill the gator.

Oh it's never too early to rant, but in this case we would both be preaching to the choir right?  Personally I think the worst thing our species ever did to itself was to try to make the world "safe."  We are not weeding out the idiots like we should, and they are breeding.

Yes, we're definitely reading from the same page ;)  I try not to be so harsh but I agree that our materialistic society in its ignorance, seems to be breeding idiots.

Breeding but not raising.  I sometimes wonder if the high level of narcissistic infants walking around in adult packaging are the result of it becoming illegal to eat your young.  All mammals have an instinct to consume or abandon defective offspring, so I figure their families must have just done the bare minimum of feeding and housing to get by without jail time.  Making adults out of them would have been too much trouble. Or it could just be I have too much time to think angry thoughts when someone tries to kill me on my way to work.

Harsh but true.

Oh dear, should I ask what happened on your way to work?

Heh.  I'm really over narcissists.

Hon, I drive 50 miles to get to work and have yet to make it a whole day without someone doing their best to kill me.  I have so many lovely stories of Darwin Awards waiting to happen.  Some days I feel like my car is invisible...or has a target on it.  Last month I passed 2 fatal wrecks right after I got on the road, and while we were creeping past the first some a-hole decided his cute little convertible could fit right down the line between the lanes so that he could pass.  I guess he figured the cops were too busy with the jaws of life to stop him.

Yeah, there seems to be a lot more arrogant and selfish drivers on the roads over here these days too.  Although, to be fair, even though things are going in the wrong direction, the UK's driving seems to be better than pretty much everywhere else that I've been to.

I've been making this commute for a decade now, but I've seen more fatal wrecks in the past year than in all prior years combined.  On top of the selfish crazies and the driving-while-texting crowd, there's just way more traffic.  Our roads haven't kept up with population.

The male AVERAGES between 11 and 16 feet in length, and around 1600 pounds.  Responsible for hundreds of human deaths a year in its normal habitat.  Second largest reptile currently gracing our world.  They are here and they are happily breeding, and while they have plenty of large herbivores in Africa to sustain them, our little deer and raccoons are not going to cut it.

People are stupid.

Gosh darn it why can't people get how bad invasives are for the environments they get thrown into! hmm maybe they'll keep the burmese pythons in check?*wishful thinking im sure*

Alas, with the rate the pythons breed nothing will slow them down...this is just another assault.
