Bobcat by illmatar Bobcat by illmatar
Zoo Miami:  Miami (obviously,) Florida

Also part of the Everglades area, this bobcat can't return to the wild.  There are two of them in the cage, and if their behavior is any indication they are being well cared for.  The first time we went by they were sound asleep on top of each other.  The second time around they were happily chasing each other all over the pen.  (I got lots of lovely butt shots out of that too.)  This shot was during a brief break in the action.

My sister's boyfriend has a wild Bobcat who roams his property.  Late at night when he sees the Bobcat while out working on his cars he will call out "Hey Bobby its just me so you can keep walking!" and the Bobcat has not bothered him and will just keep roaming.

:)  They are awesome.  Unlikely to bother people anyway.  Now if you have chickens or chihuahuas you might worry...

Some chickens have parished, but now they have a stronger coop and are in it when the sun is down. My sister's boyfriend says the bobcat is like a watch cat because it alerted him to strangers on his property one night and he is thankful for that.
